August 13, 2019 – The L.S. Starrett Co., Athol, Massachusetts, will be showing its latest band saw blade solutions for challenging materials at FABTECH 2019 in Starrett Booth No. A3350, located at McCormick Place, Chicago, from November 11-14. A new web-based Band Saw Blade Selection Tool  to help determine the appropriate Starrett Band Saw Blade will also be demonstrated.

Among the company’s broad range of band saw blades, Starrett will be showcasing Primalloy™ Bi-Metal Band Saw Blades. For heavy-duty cutting applications including materials such as tool, high-speed, stainless and hardened steels, and nickel and titanium alloys, Primalloy™ Bi-Metal Band Saw Blades offer a cost-effective, highly productive sawing solution. The cutting performance, as well as heat and wear resistance of Primalloy’s M-51 high-speed steel, is greatly increased through alloying with cobalt and vanadium. The Primalloy product line also features a proprietary Extended Life Treatment (EXT) applied to the alloy steel back material, resulting in significantly longer blade life due to reduced fatigue.

Starrett will also be highlighting its Versatix™ MP bi-metal Band Saw Blades featuring triple-tempered, high-speed M-42 cobalt steel teeth with an alloy steel backing strip. The blade has a patented tooth design that dissipates stress during cutting, reducing tooth breakage and increasing blade life. In addition, its special tooth set minimizes pinching making it ideal for cutting structurals and bundles.

Versatix™ MP band saw blades include an exclusive Starrett technology called bi-metal unique®. Starrett bi-metal unique joins two strips of high-speed steel wires to the backing steel using Solid-State Diffusion Bonding. Instead of a single wire welded to the outside of a steel backer, this process bonds two strips of high-speed steel to each side of the top edge of the steel backer, using intense heat and pressure. The bonding area between the backer and the high-speed steel is increased 170 percent over conventional electron beam or laser welding processes. This new process creates a stronger, longer lasting blade.

A new web-based Band Saw Blade Selection Tool  is an efficient way to configure and select a Starrett Band Saw Blade. Input parameters include specifying the blade type such as bi-metal, carbide grit, carbide tipped, carbon, diamond grit or stainless. Users can also designate blade width, thickness and tooth pitch. Results display the Starrett band saw blade with a link to product details including blade features and specifications. Users also have the option to start the selection process by sorting on the Starrett band saw blade product name.

The Starrett team of experts can help select the right saw blade, set up band saw machines, and help customers maximize their sawing operation. Starrett offers a wide range of band saw blades including Bi-Metal for cutting a variety of ferrous and non-ferrous materials, and Carbide Tipped, which is ideal for

cutting extremely hard, abrasive materials. Band saw blades coated with Carbide Grit and Diamond Grit cut abrasive materials with precision, producing an excellent finish. A complete line of Carbon Band Saw Blades are also available for horizontal and vertical machines with manual or gravity feed.
